Skull Earrings Day Of The Dead Halloween Pewter Orange Handmade Calaverera

Only 1 left in stock

The Day Of The Dead is celebrated in Mexico on Nov.1st and 2nd. You can mark the day too, with these wonderful Calavera (Spanish for skull) earrings. I was lucky enough to celebrate the Day Of The Dead in Oaxaca Mexico, a few years ago. Handmade altars, decorated with food, flowers and sugar skulls were constructed all over the city. Huge skeleton puppets were paraded in the street and placed in storefront windows. The puppets as well as the sugar skulls often had a wreath of flowers crowning the head. Orange marigold flowers are said to guide the spirits of the departed back home on the Day of the Dead. In keeping with these customs, I dangled bright orange glass flower beads beneath the fabulous handmade pewter skull charms. The Sterling silver ear wires are handmade, as well. These Calavera Earrings add a fun accent at Halloween and all year round. See last photo for the size of the earrings.
